Day 5 - Christ's Presence

Christ’s Presence

 

While I want to focus on practical issues in this daily blog – there is one matter to note from the reading today.

Faith is the issue. Our experience should be that, “if God says it then I believe that it has happened.”

Not only is this true when we ask for the Holy Spirit to come into our lives there is the equally important understanding the reading gives us about salvation. We read this,

“The work of the Holy Spirit is immeasurably great. It is from this source that power and efficiency come to the worker for God; and the Holy Spirit is the Comforter, as the personal presence of Christ to the soul. Any person who looks to Christ in simple, childlike faith is made a partaker of the divine nature through the agency of the Holy Spirit.

When led by the Spirit of God, Christians may know that they are made complete in Him who is the head of all things. As Christ was glorified on the day of Pentecost, so will He again be glorified in the closing work of the gospel, when He shall prepare a people to stand the final test in the closing conflict of the great controversy....”

The emphasis is on assurance that salvation has been given and is complete in our lives. Why does this happen? Is it because we display certain character traits or exhibit particular gifts? Our salvation is assured because of the personal presence of Christ in us.

This is a message of real hope for us. We don’t have to worry about our future with that promise.

There is a practical element today. I suggested that you measure your weight and blood pressure at the start of our 40 days of prayer. My blood pressure on Day 1 was 127/74 with a pulse of 45. That, believe me, is a wonder for me as a few months back the figures I had were way higher than that.

Thank God for a good doctor, some good pills, exercise, a change of diet and drinking more water than I was.
