Day 19
A far-reaching decision
We’re talking about Daniel so start imagining this young man of 18 or so. He’s handsome, he’s capable and he is every teenage girl’s dream. There is something else about him as well. He has a serious take on life. When he’s offered the best food the kingly court can conjure – he chooses home-cooked.food. The food he’s used to. He chooses the food God would rather have him eat.
I love the comment, “at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh”.
As we read the story for the day there is a big thing to note here. Daniel made his choice and looked good on the outside, and the change also benefitted him on the inside.
Beauty is more than skin deep. My wife is an Avon agent. People order Avon goods through the brochures and buy excellent products. Their skin care ranges are excellent, and excellent value for money, I’m told.
Sometimes I pack all the goods for delivery and I find myself wondering, “what on earth is this for” or “how would you use that?” I do get the feeling that as I deliver packages, and often share a word of greeting, that the ladies I’m delivering to could also do with some internal treatment. Losing a few pounds may be cheaper than spending a few pounds.
Daniel ate sensibly and looked wonderful. The good food also helped his brain to work more effectively. By the time he had finished his studies I would guess that he was head and shoulders above the rest in all areas of life.
Could you aim for the same? As the reading points out, the decision of a moment may have far-reaching effects.
How about giving yourself a ten day trial? Just fruit, nuts, legumes and vegetables. Take a photograph of yourself today, and then one in ten-days time - and compare the skin tone, compare the radiance of your face - and work out if you could then carry on that kind of diet? After all, it is the diet we will enjoy in the Kingdom above.
