Day 35 Fasting and defeating Satan

Day 35

Fasting and Defeating Satan

I'm in hopes that I haven't missed out a day in our series of 40 readings - the Megalungs Health Expo had me out of kilter for a while. Very early morning starts throw me out completely!

The reading I'm focussing on is focussed on fasting - again. Me, I'm not one for fasting, you might have heard. In Middlesbrough my blood sugar dropped so low that I found myself rather ill, and in need of a quick dose of sugar as I couldn't focus and found myself unable to speak coherently. That event decided me about the role of fasting.

Listen to me, our focus for this year has been on revival and reformation. Our Sabbath School lessons for this quarter are all about revival and reformation. Have I got the point yet? It's me that needs the revival and the accompanying reformation!

To be revived is a daily matter of re-setting the clock in order to re-focus and re-commit myself to God. Reformation is to take that commitment and apply it on a daily basis so that I not only know what God's will is but also to put that will into action.

Here's me asking the Holy Spirit into my life every day, revived every day, and yet in one area resisting reformation.

It's not that the information isn't there, I have read of the need to reform my ideas about fasting and the need for fasting, it's just that I have let my personal physical peculiarities get in the way of doing what I should do.

Fasting - I should do it, I should encourage it, I should not resist the Holy Spirit's call for me to be reformed about this.

How about you?
