Day 38
The purpose of good health
Most people don’t even question why they exist let alone ask the big question, “why should I have good health?
The reason is not really to avoid illness or pain, nor is the answer so that you can live a long time. Those answers then give the question, “why do I exist?”
The purpose of good health appears to be for the Christian to be in the best possible condition to reveal God’s glory in themselves.
Think on that picture. I have friends who often need to visit the Doctor for a number of health issues. When they see the Doctor there is no slim file of notes, there is a cupboard full of jottings.
There is hardly time to think about revealing God in His physical beauty let alone in His wonderful character. Besides, God never intended His people to suffer sickness. We were designed for good health.
Take time to look at your life now. Are there aspects of your lifestyle that you know you could and should change to make your health better in the future?
You are probably not a smoker, but if you were you know it makes sense to stop smoking. If you do stop your future will be healthier. If you are healthier you will be better able to tell, and to reveal God’s glory in your life and character.
People will look at you and say, “I wish I had your health, how do you do it? I want some of that.” You can then say, “Well, it’s all down to God really. He made me like this.”
