Personal effort for others should be preceded by much secret prayer; for it requires great wisdom to understand the science of saving souls. Before communicating with men, commune with Christ. At the throne of heavenly grace obtain a preparation for ministering to the people.
Let your heart break for the longing it has for God, for the living God. The life of Christ has shown what humanity can do by being partaker of the divine nature. All that Christ received from God we too may have. Then ask and receive. With the persevering faith of Jacob, with the unyielding persistence of Elijah, claim for yourself all that God has promised.
Christ’s Object Lessons p.149
Well, there you have it. Our journey through one chapter of Christ’s Object Lessons is almost complete. There is one day to go. We started out deciding that we are going to ask the Holy Spirit into our lives on a journey of personal purity that we might be better equipped as God’s representatives on earth.
We discovered that God wants us to pray because prayer is the best thing for us. Prayer helps us. We also found that as we ask for the Holy Spirit we are inspired just as the prophets of old were.
The aim of these readings is to help us, as witnessing teams, as prayer partners, is to also be better equipped to share our faith with new people. During the last 39 days we have been offered opportunities to do things for the salvation of 5 people that we are interested in. There have been evangelistic efforts we could have invited friends to. There have been ideas to try to engage friends in.
Now, we are once again reminded that the secret of all success. Today, can I suggest a day of prayer. We all need great wisdom as we move on in our lives as witnesses for Christ. Take some time with your prayer partner to assess the 40 days you have spent together. Have you accurately assessed the needs of the people you are praying for? Have you tried to meet the needs of the people you are praying for?
Then I want you to do something for me. Not many of you let me know if you wanted the 40 day blog to continue. However enough people did let me know that they wanted to continue, indeed, we added people to our reading list. The blog will continue. My thought is to move on to reading through Desire of Ages. There are two ways ahead. I would like to try reading a whole chapter a day. It’s not too hard. Can you let me know if a whole chapter at a time is too much – or you could ask me to go through a paragraph at a time as we have been doing.
