Rest and physical health

“But I’m too busy to take a rest!”

It’s all too easy to hear the theory. We KNOW that we need to rest and to get enough sleep. We know that as we get enough rest our bodies and minds are equipped for greater health. We know that the number of stress hormones released decrease, that our immune system is strengthened and that our blood pressure lowers as does the amount of cholesterol in our bloodstream.

The problem is, that is the theory. I can imagine some person reading the theory saying, “the person writing the book hasn’t got my responsibilities!”

There is a new idea that may suit your busy lifestyle and your desire to relax a bit, to get some rest. The ‘slow movement’ may suit you. The programme that I heard on Radio 4 gives a hint of what you can do to do things ‘slowly’ and recognise the benefits.
