“Our prayers are to be as earnest and persistent as was the petition of the needy friend who asked for the loaves at midnight. The more earnestly and steadfastly we ask, the closer will be our spiritual union with Christ. We shall receive increased blessings because we have increased faith.”
Christ’s Object Lessons p.146
As I read through the current chapter, ‘Asking to give’ in Christ’s Object Lessons I note that Ellen White has taken note of the meaning of the parable and keeps on letting us know what that meaning is. Our chapter tells us that we should keep praying, keep asking, keep being persistent and an answer will be given.
On the way we have learned that sometimes we have to be persistent about our prayers because sometimes the person that needs to change is not the person we are praying about – it is us. We are allowed and encouraged to keep on praying so that we recognise what needs changing.
Here we read another reason why we are to keep on praying. The more we pray the closer we will be to Christ, our spiritual union deepens, we have increased faith.
Simple thing then, keep praying, because you know that the God who can be trusted to give will give. If He promises to give the Holy Spirit He will give. If He promises to give faith, He will give.
Keep praying.
