“There is in genuine faith a buoyancy, a steadfastness of principle, and a fixedness of purpose that neither time nor toil can weaken.

"Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: but they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

     Isaiah. 40:30, 31

Netherfield Seventh-day Adventist Church are thinking that their Pastor only knows one chapter of the Bible. They have been exploring Acts 13 for weeks, and where they to realise it they will be exploring that chapter for some time to come.

Last Sabbath they looked at one word, belief. A scientist may sprinkle lycopodium powder on water and observe the dust jiggling on the surface of the water. When first observed the scientist had no clue as to the cause. Over a hundred years later Albert Einstein suggested a cause. Water molecules were pushing the dust back and forth. That jiggling movement is called Brownian motion. When I first saw that and heard the explanation I believed the reasoning was correct.

Belief in the Bible has a deeper quality. Belief is a relationship word that expresses steadfastness and faithfulness. Look at our reading. Whose faithfulness are we talking about? I would suggest to you, faithful brethren and sisters that we should focus very strongly on God’s faith to us. God has, “a steadfastness of principle, and a fixedness of purpose that neither time nor toil can weaken.” You can see that in 1 Corinthians 1:9

"God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord."

That is why we can ask in prayer, and keep asking. His very steadfastness means that He is not going to be a fickle King but a reliable Father. Because of His faithfulness you can be buoyant knowing that God is the one who will lift you up.
